Millie Bobby Brown has left fans baffled over her ‘changing’ voice, with many questioning where her accent has gone.
The star was born in but spent much of her childhood living in , before moving to the .
However, during an appearance on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, viewers were, which featured a more American twang than usual.
Underneath a YouTube video showing the segment – which focused on as well as her new project, Damsel – many couldn’t wrap their heads around why she sounded so different.

Boogerlui agreed: ‘It almost sounds like she’s doing an impersonation of an American accent throughout this interview [sic].’
‘Her American accent..the last time I watch her interview her British accent was so so strong! [sic],’ Elurwvia commented.
As Hook5G added: ‘Millie speaks like a rich valley girl now like damn its like the accent is there but barely w a pinch of sass xD <3 no hate love her.’
Millie is currently , while also remaining on the promotional trail for Damsel, which might explain why she sounds a little different.
During her time in the hot seat, the Enola Holmes icon opened up about her relationship with fiancé Jake, and the seriously unique way that he popped the question last year.
‘Jake and I bonded over diving,’ she told the host. ‘We love diving, we got our diving licenses together. We were on vacation and he said “Mil, you’ve got to be up at 8am, we’re going on a dive”.
‘We go under and we’re many meters down, and he gives me a shell. I turn it over and it’s a ring.’
Millie tried her ring on underwater and modelled it for her groom-to-be before they swam back to the surface, but accidentally knocked it out of her hands.
‘As I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger. Plummets so fast that it was like a cinematic movie,’ she continued. ‘Jake threw himself so deep.
‘He does a cinematic grab, opens and he saved the ring.
‘I truly feel like it’s a reflection of who he is, I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s backs. If anyone drops the ball, we got it.
In September, Millie shed light on wedding planning at the same time as juggling her career and other projects – and addressed comments that she may be too young to walk down the aisle.
‘It’s not because I can’t do it in 10 years; of course I can do it in 10 years, but why, when I know that it’s going to work now?,’ she told Glamour Magazine.
‘Just like Florence [her beauty brand] will be there in 10 years. You’ll be able to see my movie in 10 years on TV. And I know that Jake and I will be okay. It’s like, why wait? Let’s go for it.’
‘We were modeled wonderful, loving relationships,’ she added. ‘So it’s something that we both had that mutual drive for.
‘His family were so wonderfully accepting of me and embraced me, and it’s so nice to find a second family in that.’
