Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 1 of on Plus.

A particularly significant Egg in episode 1 of Moon Knight has got fans talking, with some suspecting it of a Marvel comic book character.

The premiere of the show on Disney Plus saw make his MCU debut as Marc Spector, a mercenary with who sometimes shifts between his identity and that of Steven Grant, a British museum gift shop worker.

Steven discovers that Marc is a conduit for the Egyptian moon god , who uses their body as an avatar to fight injustice as the masked Moon Knight.

In the first episode, Steven is in his apartment when he finds a flip phone stashed away with a charger.

When he turns it on, he sees numerous missed calls from a woman called ‘Layla’, as well as one from someone called ‘Duchamp’.

In the comic books, Marc joins the US Marine Corps before being discharged when his history of mental illness is discovered.

He eventually begins working alongside a French mercenary called Jean-Paul ‘Frenchie’ DuChamp, who’s also a pilot.

Despite his line of work, Frenchie is depicted as having a moral compass, and he ends up becoming a sidekick to Moon Knight, supporting his mission to target those who they believe deserve to be punished.

The brief glimpse of DuChamp’s name on the phone found by Steven has prompted several Moon Knight fans to suspect that the hero’s close friend could make an appearance on the show.

‘DUCHAMP!!!! OUR DEAR FRENCHIE. Pilot and #MoonKnight’s side kick. This is the best easter egg for us comic book stans,’ one person tweeted.

‘I love this Easter egg of my guy Frenchie “DuChamp” in the flip phone. Hopefully we see him soon!!!’ another commented.

‘The way I screamed when DuChamp was in Mark’s phone. I really need Frenchie and Crawley to be in this show,’ someone said, referring to another comic book character called Crawley, a homeless man who becomes an informant for Moon Knight.

One less optimistic fan remarked: ‘I don’t think he’s showing up, but I liked the Duchamp (“Frenchie”) easter egg. Maybe I’m wrong and we see him though!’

Meanwhile, someone else said that they were ‘manifesting’ Timothée Chalamet showing up as the character.

Moon Knight is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
