Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 2 on Plus.

Moon Knight fans are celebrating a huge milestone that they believe the Marvel series crossed on Disney Plus, after viewers appeared to hear drop the F-bomb.

In , Marc Spector was finally given the opportunity to stretch his legs while his other identity, Steven Grant, became trapped in his reflection.

After Marc summoned the suit of Moon Knight to fight a jackal – a power he has thanks to the Egyptian moon god – the mercenary took back the control of his body, much to the frustration of the usually mild-mannered Steven.

Steven urged Marc to give his body back, trying with all his might to switch places as he told his counterpart: ‘I will never give you a moment of peace.’

Marc finally unleashed his anger, smashing Steven’s reflection with his foot as viewers thought to hear him say: ‘Shut the f**k up!’

While watching the episode on Disney Plus, if viewers turn on their captions, Marc’s dialogue reads: ‘Shut up! You shut up! Shut up!’ with no swear word in sight.

However, several Moon Knight fans are sure they heard Oscar say the F-word, which would mark the first time that it’s been clearly said in an MCU production.

In the past, previous instances of characters saying the word in the MCU have either been cut off or bleeped out, such as in Iron Man 2 when US Senator Stern (Garry Shandling) fires it in the direction of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), or when Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) catches Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in his Spider-Man suit at the end of Homecoming.

There have of course been instances of swearing in other Marvel projects, such as in the Netflix Marvel shows (before they joined Disney Plus), in Deadpool and when Hugh Jackman made a cameo as Wolverine in X-Men: First Class.

However, the clear use of the F-word in the MCU is a whole other story.

‘Is that the first F-bomb in an MCU project??’ one Moon Knight fan tweeted incredulously after the latest episode of the series.

‘Disney Plus doing F-bombs now? Ah I gotta tune in,’ another said.

Someone else joked that ‘the F-word is canon’ in the cinematic universe, while another wrote: ‘This is the first F-Bomb in a MCU project that isn’t censored or unfinished like Infinity War and Captain Marvel.’

While the captioning appears to confirm that Marc didn’t actually swear, many fans are still convinced by what they think they heard.

It definitely would add to Moon Knight’s reputation as one of Marvel’s grittier comic book characters, that’s for sure.

Moon Knight is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
