Morrissey follows in glitzy footsteps of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Gaga as he announces second Las Vegas residency

is set to follow in the footsteps of the greats as the musician plays a Las Vegas residency for a second time.

The singer, 62, will play five dates at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace this summer, and fans are buzzing.

This will be his second run in Vegas after performing a series of dates in summer 2021, which were originally postponed due to Covid.

He joins the likes of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and, , , in making megabucks from a Vegas residency, with his titled Viva Moz Vegas.

Morrissey – real name Steven Patrick Morrissey – announced the exciting news this morning as he shared that go on sale later this month.

Viva Moz Vegas is said to ‘serve as an intimate, invigorating dive into Morrissey’s expansive career from his early days to the new album.’

‘As an artist who is always trying new things, and never wanting to repeat himself, this could be fans’ only chance to experience the provocative combination of Morrissey in Las Vegas. These shows are not to be missed,’ states the press release.

The poster for the residency also promises a crowd-pleasing set list as the songwriter performs the songs that made you cry and the songs that saved your life.’

His next Las Vegas residency begins on July 1 and will run until July 9, with tickets on sale on March 25 at 10am PT.

Bagging a Las Vegas residency is a pinnacle moment in many artists’ careers, especially as it offers the opportunity to make big money.

The biggest earner by far was Celine Dion, who made a staggering $681million (£516million) for one of the longest-standing Las Vegas residencies, playing over 400 shows since 2003.

The likes of Britney Spears, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, and Cher have also hosted residencies in Sin City.

Adele made headlines recently when until further notice, tearfully announcing on social media that delays meant her show ‘wasn’t ready.’

Fans can look forward to some surprises in Morrissey’s upcoming shows, since the announcement video included a song no one can quite recognise, hinting that new music could be on the horizon.

His career-defining announcement comes after the former The Smiths frontman penned an open letter to ex-guitarist Johnny Marr, because they ‘don’t know’ each other anymore.
