’s ex-husband has denied claims he abused her and instead explained he was ‘just being ’.
The South African raised first appeared on German dance competition Let’s Dance in 2011, .
From 2003, she was married to her dancing partner, Timo Kulczak, however they divorced after 11 years of marriage in 2014.
However last year her ex-husband started following claims in Motsi’s autobiography, Finding My Own Rhythm: My Story, which was released in 2022.
In the memoir she said Kulczak, 45, paid her an allowance from her dance teaching and TV earnings.
She also said he rejected her pleas to have a baby and controlled her diet — allegations he has denied.
Now, Kulczak has said Motsi, 42, struggled to adapt to the ‘German way’ and he had to help ‘organise’ her.
‘I wasn’t abusive, I was just being German,’ he told .
Kulczak, the coach of the national German dance squad, said: ‘For sure, the German character is different from the South African way of living.
‘But she lived here a very long time, so she got used to it and liked how organised everything was and how things were functioning because it was organised.’
After talks to avoid a courtroom showdown collapsed, judges in Germany have ruled Motsi must now attend a hearing.
His lawyers had previously asked the court to jail her for up to six months or fine her £290,000 if she repeats the claims about their 11-year marriage.
He went on to share that he ‘just wanted the apology’, but it was now ‘not enough’ and claimed what had been said has affected his dance coaching and love life.
A spokesperson for Motsi previously told Metro.co.uk there was ‘no legal basis’ for the lawsuit.
After her divorce from Kulczak, whom she moved to Germany to be with when she was 18, Motsi married her new dance partner Evgenij Vozynuk in 2017.
The couple have a daughter and run a dance school together near Frankfurt.
