Lego has unveiled a trio of new Lego sets based on iconic scenes such as the Death Star trench run and the trash compactor escape.
Most Lego Star Wars sets are vehicles or playsets based on the movies but there are plenty of smaller models for those that don’t have much space or prefer something a little more unusual, like Lego recreations of .
The new diorama sets that have just been unveiled should suit any kind of Lego or Star Wars fan though, as they’re both small enough to fit on a desk or shelf and detailed enough you can pretend it’s not just a kid’s toy.
There are three sets, with the first being the iconic Death Star trench run from A New Hope, featuring Luke Skywalker’s X-wing, Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, and his two wingmen.
The detail is amazing for the trench, including a laser turret and a lot of what is known in model building circles as . There’s even a special little printed R2-D2 head on the X-wing.
The second set is also from A New Hope and recreates the Trash Compactor scene where Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie are about to get compressed to death.
Minifigures for C-3PO and R2-D2 are also included, round the back of the diorama, and, of course, the walls move to try and crush the heroes.
The final diorama is based on the famous scene in The Empire Strikes Back where Luke is trying to raise his X-wing up out of the swamps of Dagobah by using the Force.
This diorama is slightly bigger than the others and includes the whole of Yoda’s hut, as well as minifigures for Luke, R2, and Yoda.
Lego has made smaller dioramas like this before, such as one based on the bit in A New Hope where Luke and Leia are swinging across the precipice in the Death Star, but these new ones are bigger and more detailed, with a little plaque at the front with a quote from the movie in question.
They’re also similar to an upcoming that recreates the Tyrannosaurs Rex attack from the first film, although that’s sets a bit bigger and costs £89.99.
The three new Star Wars sets will be released on April 26 and are available to pre-order from today at the Lego website.
(set number 75329) costs £54.99 and is 22cm wide and made up of 665 pieces.
(set number 75339) costs £79.99 and is 21cm wide and made up of 802 pieces. It’s the most expensive because it has the most minifigures.
Finally, (set number 75330) costs £69.99 and is 29 cm wide and made up of 1,000 pieces.
