correspondent and former Newsnight journalist Matthew Thompson has detailed a horrific incident which has now left him homeless.
Thompson shared that his Nutri Bullet blender appeared to have ‘spontaneously burst into flames’ causing a ‘large fire’ in his now ‘uninhabitable’ flat.
The Northern Irish presenter shared the terrifying story on Twitter, where he added that the ‘collective response’ he’s received from various authorities hasn’t helped.
Thompson wrote: ‘Well. I cam home from a 14 hour day at work yesterday to find there had been a large fire in my flat.
‘It is currently uninhabitable.
‘Seems our @nutribullet spontaneously burst into flames.’
He added: ‘How’s your weekend going?’
Thompson went on to detail the challenges he’s now facing in the comments, writing: ‘The real challenge is that this country comes to a full scale halt on a weekend.
‘@LondonFire can’t tell me what happened until Monday. Buildings insurance @McLarensGlobal are unreachable.
‘I am homeless, have no idea why my flat has caught fire, and the collective response is [sic].’
‘Very sorry to hear this,’ presenter Matthew Stadlen wrote, while someone else added: ‘I’m sorry to hear that Matthew, it must be horrible to arrive home to that.’
