Newsround fans are obsessing over Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s ‘dishykrish’ throwback picture: ‘Handsome devil!’

has viewers swooning over a handsome pic from his past.

The now-Channel 4 presenter inspired and educated children across the nation from 1991 to 1994, where he hosted alongside Juliet Morris and Paul Welsh.

Since then, he’s become Channel 4’s longest serving presenter after .

The pictures, from 1991, feature a young Krishnan in font of his Newsround desk, and one alongside Juliet.

Taking to Twitter to share the memories, he said: ‘Lovely to hear 50 years of #Newsround marked on #R4Today – it remains one of the most important news programmes on television and it’s ethos of explaining, not patronizing and doing stories the audience care about never leaves you.

He added in the comments: ‘And yes, it’s the one jumper I kept. Will sadly miss the party cos in Ukraine but will be there in spirit.’

Quite a few fans were taken aback by just how different Krishnan looked in those days, with one writing: ‘Ok damn.’

Another called him a ‘handsome devil’ while a third tried to start a new hash-tag ‘#dishykrish.’

Krishnan’s iconic fish jumper was also hailed ‘legendary’ in the comments, with another labelling the pic ‘Baby Krishnan!’

Other fans thanked Krishnan and the Newsround team for the clear and concise reporting over the last 50 years.

One wrote: ‘And now we’re adults and you’re still explaining stories we really care about. Thank you!’

Someone else commented: ‘had to be home for (this era of) Newsround when I was a kid. Thanks for inspiring so many more journalists too!’

The Channel 4 newsreader took over from fellow presenter Matt Frei.

Murthy’s followers praised him and Frei for their ‘bravery,’ on the frontline, as one person wrote: ‘Thank you @mattfrei for your brave coverage and good luck Krish – stay safe.

‘I don’t think I can really find the words to convey and fully appreciate what it means to have the coverage @Channel4 is bringing of this awful situation.’

While another added: ‘@Channel4News the only news worth watching. Thanks @mattfrei for your superb but heartbreaking reporting and please stay safe @krishgm.’

Newsround airs on weekdays on the  with a five-minute bulletin at 7.40am and ten-minute bulletins airing at 8.15am and 4.20pm.
