But the all-access programme does also feature moments of levity, including Lewis necking pints down the pub with his mates and his parents giving a scathing verdict on his track, as well as life at home in Glasgow.
This includes seeing the Bruises hitmaker giving it a whirl as a domestic goddess and sorting out his own washing.
However, the former One Direction star, 29, has taken umbrage with that particular scene and has claimed it’s not actually the real story.
Appearing on on Tuesday, Niall was asked for his verdict on Lewis’ willingness to get stuck in with the laundry.
‘He doesn’t do his own washing. I spoke to his mother the other night. He’s a liar,’ Niall exclaimed.
‘He maybe did it for the cameras… I swear to god, Carol [Capaldi, Lewis’s mother], I said to his mother the other day: “Does Lewis pop around to the house or are you in his flat in Glasgow often?” She goes: “Yeah, when he hands me the washing.”‘
Niall continued jokingly: ‘He probably has to do his own smalls ‘cause I wouldn’t hand his smalls to anyone else… smalls that not even a mother would love!’
Lewis and Niall are firm friends with the What Makes You Beautiful singer even ’s gig in Atlanta in April.
The duo also starred in an Amazon Prime travel series that saw them take an epic road trip around Niall’s home country Ireland.
Speaking about their friendship and the programme,: ‘We’re pretty good chums so I don’t think we learnt too much new about each other, but it was just nice to see where they came from, meet the parents, I met some of your cousins.’
