Nicole Scherzinger to compete with Simon Cowell as judge of new Netflix talent show

and once co-judged on The X Factor together, but it seems their friendship is set to take a competitive turn. 

The, 46, has long been a performer and mentor in the music industry. Now, she is rumoured to be reprising her role as talent judge after signing a new deal with . 

Nicole, who has proven she has after the successful boy band in 2010, will reportedly get back into the hot seat for a new talent show called Building The Band. 

It’s understood star will host the show. It is yet to be revealed whether there are any other judges and who they are.

Nicole has a long history with judging and mentoring after teaming up with Simon, 64, multiple times between 2007 and 2019 for The X Factor and its spin-offs, Celebrity and Band. 

Despite having stepped away from judging for over five years, Nicole remains close to Simon. The music mogul was even spotted backstage at her West End show, Sunset Boulevard, in March.

While it’s unclear if the former Pussycat Doll’s new Netflix show will affect their friendship, a source told that Nicole’s signing onto the project proves Netflix is ‘serious’ about competing with other shows in the genre. 

‘Nicole is a huge coup for Netflix as she has been on so many talent shows in the UK and the US in the past, so is synonymous with the genre,’ a source said. 

‘It shows how serious bosses at the streamer are about competing with the major channels.’ 

‘Nicole is the whole package. With her experience in the industry, she also brings personality, warmth and glamour. She’s perfect. Casting AJ is a shrewd move as he has a massive fanbase and is really quirky on-screen.’

Netflix is yet to release a preview and release date for the upcoming show, but in a synopsis, the streamer revealed it will follow 50 ‘talented singers’ in ‘the opportunity of a lifetime’ as they seek ‘their perfect bandmates solely based on musical compatibility, connection, and, most importantly, merit.’ 

It adds, ‘They’ll be in complete control every step of the way, but is chemistry enough to make them a success? And when the bands finally do meet, how will looks, choreography, and style come into play? Expect plenty of drama, next-level artistry, and unforgettable performances.’ 

It comes after news Simon is in his search for a new boyband.

On June 4, the TV personality promoted the announcement himself by putting up an enormous sign that read: ‘Simon needs you! Future megastars wanted for new boyband. No time wasters.’
