contestant is preparing to take on her next telly challenge with a brand-new role in the BBC’s , alongside actor, rapper and comedian Michael Dapaah.
The panellist will star as presenter Chidi Abara, who has a fractious relationship with her onscreen co-host, powerful and well-known TV personality Mensah (Michael) in the second season of the drama.
Starting off her showbiz career as a stand-up comedian, the 41-year-old joined Loose Women in 2020 and has also appeared onscreen as a finalist on Celebrity Masterchef and on the 19th series of Strictly.
Newcomer Michael began his rise to fame on YouTube, where he launched a mockumentary series called SWIL (Somewhere in ) which gained over 1million views in its first series.
The 30-year-old more recently hit the headlines when he appeared on Charlie Sloth’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show, with the comedic rap he performed later becoming a viral meme.
Michael said that joining the series was ‘an honour’, especially because of ‘how renowned ’s novels are and what they represent’.
‘For me it was time to properly enter the world of acting and this was a great introduction for me. I wanted to show people and myself that I can play a role which isn’t so heavily comedic and can do so much more, and I found this character Mensah really entertaining, which is always a bonus,’ he added.
Also joining the Noughts and Crosses cast for series two are Mayuri Naidu (High Rollers, Muvhango) as Shashi Bandara MP, Morgan Watkins (A Very English Scan**l, King Gary), and Iretiola Doyle (Tinsel, Madam President) as the Empress of Aprica.
The second season of Noughts and Crosses, which is adapted from the bestselling novel series, will bring the forbidden love story between Sephy (Masali Baduza) and Callum (Jack Rowan) to its epic conclusion.
While the air date for the upcoming episodes, which were filmed in South Africa and the UK, has not been revealed, the BBC has promised it will land on BBC One and iPlayer soon.
