As the release date of inches ever closer, fans can’t wait to be reunited with ’s Jedi Master in the upcoming Plus series.

A few weeks ago, a trailer was released for the show, which will also see return as Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, a role he last played 17 years ago in the prequel films.

In an announcement that took fans by surprise, Ewan revealed that the premiere date had been changed ever so slightly, pushing it back by a couple of days.

The action-packed adventure is due to come out 45 years after the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, came out in 1977, which starred Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in their iconic roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin – Obi-Wan’s former Padawan – transformed into the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

What’s the release date of Obi-Wan Kenobi?

In a new announcement, it was revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Friday May 27, with the first two episodes coming out in one go.

The show was originally scheduled to launch on Wednesday May 25, before the amended premiere date was announced.

How many episodes will there be?

Obi-Wan Kenobi will consist of six episodes, with the finale due to air in June.

Is there a trailer?

Yes,, which was unveiled to the masses – much to the excitement of diehard Star Wars fans across the globe – in March.

In the first look at footage from the series, Obi-Wan was shown in the aftermath of the prequel film trilogy keeping an eye on a young Luke Skywalker, while he was being raised a child on the sandy land of Tatooine.

Joel Edgerton, who returns as Luke’s uncle, Owen Lars, is seen in the vicinity of an Inquisitor, lightsaber-wielding agents who serve the Sith-ruled Galactic Empire.

At the start of the trailer, Obi-Wan can be heard saying in a voiceover: ‘The fight is done. We lost,’ before telling someone off camera to ‘stay hidden’.

Nonetheless, words that appear on the screen in the trailer read: ‘Between darkness, hope survives.’

Who’s in the cast?

Aside from Ewan as Obi-Wan and Hayden as Anakin/Darth Vader, other members include the aforementioned Joel as Uncle Owen and Bonnie Piesse as Beru Whitesun Lars, Owen’s wife and Luke aunt.

Grant Feely appears as the young Luke, while Moses Ingram plays Reva, otherwise known as the Third Sister, an Inquisitor who creator Joby Harold said would ‘contribute to the legacy of Star Wars villains in a really interesting way’.

Rupert Friend plays the Grand Inquisitor, who has previously made appearances in the animated Star Wars series The Clone Wars and Rebels, while Indira Varma portrays an Imperial officer.

Other confirmed members of the cast include Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross in undisclosed roles.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is due to premiere on Friday May 27 on Disney Plus.
