What happened in Ozark season 4 part 2? Ending explained
After five years and four seasons, Ozark has finally drawn to a close, bowing out in epic fashion.
Season four part two of the crime drama began with a heartbroken Ruth still on the warpath for revenge following the death of her cousin Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan) at the hands of Javi Elizondro (Alfonso Herrera).
She managed to succeed in her mission, shooting Javi dead as the Byrdes watched the brutal murder.
Knowing that Ruth had Ki**ed Javi, the Byrdes didn’t want Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) to become angry over the true nature of his nephew’s death, so they told him that he had simply disappeared.
However, Navarro isn’t the only person infuriated by Javi’s disappearance, as Javi’s mother Camila (Veronica Falcón) is also incensed by the news.
Following Javi’s death, things appeared to be on the up for Ruth, as her criminal record was expunged and she became the majority owner of The Missouri Belle casino.
However, the ghost of her past came back to haunt her when Camila found out that Ruth had murdered her son, resulting in the grieving mother shooting Ruth dead.
The Byrdes were in for an emotional rollercoaster with their own family, as they tried to unify their family despite their children Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) losing faith in them.
While the family escaped suffering the same fate as Ruth for covering up Javi’s murder, in the final scenes of the show, Wendy was at risk of being outed by personal investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) for killing her brother Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey).
Despite Wendy and Marty trying to help their children avoid the life of crime they’ve been leading, in the final moments of the episode, Jonah points a gun in Mel’s direction.
The screen cuts to black, before a gunshot is heard… insinuating that Jonah has shot the former cop dead.
While some fans may be hoping the cliffhanger could lead to a fifth season, Ozark is well and truly done after season four.
Viewers will just have to imagine Jonah growing up in the world of crime that he seemingly cannot escape.
Ozark is available to watch on Netflix.
