An spinoff isn’t totally off the table following the fourth and final season.

The beloved Jason Bateman and Julia Garner-led Netflix drama, which aired its last episodes last month, could be revived in some capacity, showrunner Chris Mundy has teased.

‘It’s definitely something that people have talked about a bunch,’ he said. ‘There’s nothing definitive. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show so there’s obviously going to be some interest there.’

Mundy added that any spin-off would need to be worlds away from the original series, however.

‘It was really important for me to end this show,’ he told . ‘This is the work we did, we did our best and we hope people like it.

‘And then anything that spins off from it would be its own distinct thing, even though it’s in our universe.’

The final episodes of Ozark were , as season 4 part 2 dropped on Netflix after months of anticipation.

It had been a rollercoaster journey since the crime drama’s launch in 2017, following financial advisor-turned money launderer Marty Byrde (), his wife Wendy Byrde (), and their family as they went up against formidable individuals including Ruth Langmore ().

Years after the Byrde family became entangled in Missouri’s world of local criminals following their move from Chicago, fans were desperate to know how their story would wrap up in the epic conclusion.

While the family escaped suffering the same fate as Ruth for covering up Javi’s murder, in the final scenes of the show, Wendy was at risk of being outed by personal investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) for killing her brother Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey).

Despite Wendy and Marty trying to help their children avoid the life of crime they’ve been leading, in the final moments of the episode, Marty’s son Jonah pointed a gun in Mel’s direction.

The screen then cut to black, before a gunshot sounded, insinuating that Jonah shot the former cop dead.

Sounds like the perfect set up for a spinoff, right?

Ozark is available to stream on Netflix.
