Sir was in Paris for Fashion Week to watch his daughter Stella McCartney’s runway show, and he was joined by the daughter of former pop rival Michael Jackson.
The music legend, 81, who also sat with fellow surviving Beatle Sir Ringo Starr, 83, found himself sharing the limelight with none other than Paris Jackson, daughter of late singer Michael Jackson.
Jackson, who shared Paris with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, died suddenly in June 2009 aged just 50, when Paris was only 11 years old.
And Sir Paul and Paris, 25, looked to be getting along well despite the feud between the Hey Jude singer and Jackson which remained unresolved at the time of his death.
The Wings frontman and The Way You Make Me Feel hitmaker had collaborated numerous times in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with Jackson’s song The Girl is Mine marking their first appearance on a track together.
They then recorded the Sir Paul-penned song Say Say Say, eventually released in 1983, which was a top three hit in the UK and a US number one.
But things turned sour between the pair just two years later, when the Live and Let Die singer advised the Billie Jean star to invest in music publishing.
Using Sir Paul’s advice, Jackson decided to secure the rights to The Beatles’ entire catalogue for $47.5 million (£37.5 million) in August 1985, buying them out from under Sir Paul’s nose.
And the move definitely put Sir Paul’s nose out of joint, with him saying at the time: ‘I think it’s dodgy to do something like that. To be someone’s friend, and then buy the rug they’re standing on.’
The Beatles’ full musical catalogue is now owned by Sony Music Publishing – Jackson’s estate secured the sale for a reported figure of $750 million (£592 million) in 2016.
With the past presumably behind them, Paris sat in between Sir Paul and Sir Ringo as the trio watched on – the Beatles drummer and former solo popstar attended the event with his wife Barbara, 76.
Meanwhile, the Wonderful Christmastime singer attended the event with his son James, 46, who Sir Paul shared with Linda McCartney before her death in 1998.
While the two remaining Beatles opted for traditional smart black coats, Paris opted for a leopard-print dress, standing out amongst the crowd in the City of Love.
Paris was born in 1998, just two years before her parents’ divorce – the couple had been divorced for nine years before Jackson’s death in Los Angeles.
Their attendance made sure that even more famous faces were spotted at the glamorous get-together, with , Halle Berry, and Cher also among those who journeyed to Paris.
Sir Paul and Sir Ringo’s appearances at Paris Fashion Week marked the first time the pair had been seen attending a public event together since the 1960s.
Now and Then, a song which had been worked on for five decades (on and off), hit number one in the UK charts in 2023, giving the Beatles a record-breaking 18th chart-topping single.
