English singer Paul Young married his girlfriend Lorna in a small registry office wedding in , six years after his late wife’s tragic death.
The chart-topping artist, 68, got engaged to Lorna, 45, in October 2023 and finally tied the knot on Friday at the Marylebone Registry office.
The newlyweds shared their summer ceremony with family and friends including star Thomas Skinner.
The Come Back and Stay hitmaker sported a tailored navy blue suit while Lorna, wore a floor-length white gown as they shared a first kiss under some colourful confetti with a bouquet of white flowers in hand.
Both seemed delighted, wearing large grins, as they look toward the next stage of their blossoming relationship.
Over on Instagram, Paul shared a snap of the two on their special day, : ‘Meet the new Mrs Young! Today I married the most wonderful girl.. thank you Lorna, this is one of the happiest days of my life.’
: ‘The happiest day ever! Today I married the most amazing man in the world. I love you Paul and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. ‘
People flocked to the comments to congratulate the couple including Cheryl Baker who wrote: ‘Absolutely bloody thrilled for you both, Paul!’
Socialite Lizzie Cundy added: ‘Huge congrats my darling. So happy for you both.’
And Great British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood wrote: ‘Congrats to you both.’
Back in October, Paul shared the happy news of their engagement with a selfie of the two and : ‘Lorna said Yes! We are both so happy and both looking forward to a wonderful future together.’
Lorna shared her own photo, : ‘My world, my love, my everything, 5 years of joy, I could not love anyone more.’
The marriage comes six years after the 80s pop star lost his late wife Stacey Smith after a two-year battle with brain cancer. The pair had been together for 35 years after meeting on the set of the music video for 1983 single Come Back and Stay.
They broke up in 2006 but got back together a few years later. They had three children, daughters Levi and Layla, and son Grady, over the course of their relationship.
In an interview a few years ago, he opened up about why he decided to go back to work after his late wife’s diagnosis.
‘After a couple of months I said I wanted to get back out on the road again and I threw myself into it. It was therapeutic. It’s in your blood and you’re with your friends,’ he said at the time.
‘I was working while she was ill. I needed to get as much money in the bank as I could because we never knew what operation might be needed next.’
In 2019 he went on tour and opened up about how keeping busy helped the grieving process on Loose Women.
‘I think it’s a good thing. Sometimes I thought it might be putting it off a bit…Sometimes you get home and it feels a bit empty, but then you get used to it again,’ .
The musician recently reflected on his new relationship with Lorna in where he admitted he didn’t expect to find love again so soon but Lorna had brought ‘so much’ to his life.
‘She keeps me on the level,’ he added, hinting that they wanted a smaller wedding event. ‘We might just disappear together. We’re just enjoying the moment. It’s been really nice,’ he said.
Paul started in the music industry as part of a band called the Q-Tips but they eventually broke up. He launched his solo career with his number-one debut album No Parlez in 1983.
