is , and while get to frolic during the day, at night they reportedly stay at the far less glamorous Inverness Airport hotel.

spend their days at Ardoss Castle north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands .

The rules of the show are relatively simple but lead to a game of complicated deceit.

There are two teams – Traitors and The Traitors must not be discovered to win, and the Faithfuls must try to discover who they are

Each day every remaining person votes for who should be banished in a round table, and the surviving Traitors get to then secretly murder players too.

When the gong sounds each night, the contestants are sent to their sleeping quarters. Although according to Alan Cumming, who of the series (which is also filmed in Ardoss castle) they don’t just get to walk upstairs, they are instead transported to a different location.

‘Spoiler alert: None of us stayed in the castle. None of us,’ he told

‘They [the contestants] all stayed in the airport hotel in the Inverness airport. How glamorous—you come to Scotland, and you stay in the Inverness airport hotel.’

He continued: ‘I stayed in a little house in Inverness. But I had a room in the castle where I would get made up and dressed. It had a huge bed in it. So I did actually sleep quite often, but not overnight.’

So, basically, while our host, Claudia Winkleman, isn’t staying at the airport hotel… It’s not just him, he’ll also joined by the other contestants, but we can’t resist any opportunity to quote Diane.

While Ardoss Castle was built in the 19th century in the Scottish baronial style and boasts formal gardens and 100 acres of parkland on the banks of the River Alness, the Inverness Airport hotel is part of the Courtyard by Marriott chain.

There’s nothing wrong with the accommodation, and it even has four stars on Booking.com, but with prices starting at £59 per night, it certainly has not got the regal qualities of Ardoss.

One viewer called the location ‘less exciting’ now (Picture: Shutterstock / MarcAndreLeTourneux)

One viewer described how the revelation changed their perspective.

‘The Traitors location is less exciting when you know they sleep overnight at the hotel right next to the runway at Inverness Airport. ,’ wrote Caspar Remi.

The tweet has been liked over 3.5k times, and one social media user believes they possibly saw the filming.

‘I was staying here back in May 2022, no idea if it was for traitors s1, but they had guards on each corridor by all the lifts checking on people leaving their rooms. They said it was for the filming of a reality show, but refused to tell me which one. Lovely hotel to be fair!’ wrote Charles Shires.

Kevin H remarked: ‘Imagine being woken up in that hotel in the middle of the night and being driven back out the countryside castle just to read a note to say you’re out of the game.’

User James Devonport called the hotel ‘hilarious’ and Joley Gordon was slightly disappointed as it was ‘way less romantic than I thought’.

Viewer Si Burman now believes their bad sleep is not down to their fear of ‘murder’ but instead the accomodation.

‘Ah so *that’s* why they don’t sleep well,’ they wrote.

‘Looks like it’s a 45 min drive to the castle too, they must all be shattered,’ added user Geoff de Burca.

Claudia, 51, has previously marveled at’It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that’s not too cheesy.

‘On day two, we saw a double rainbow and everyone was like oh my gosh, and the crew were crying, there were baby deer, there was beautiful heather, there were ancient trees, and an ancient loch.’
