The 29-year-old SNL star is receiving in-patient therapy and his friends and family are said to be supporting him every step of the way.
Pete often speaks frankly about his issues and has sought help for post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder.
The star revealed he had borderline personality disorder in 2018.
On Wednesday, a source said: ‘Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues.’
They added , which confirmed Pete had entered a facility: ‘His friends and family have been supportive during this time.’
Earlier this month, after crashing his car into a Beverly Hills house earlier this year.
Police told the the and his girlfriend – Chase Sui Wonders – were involved in the smash, with him behind the wheel of a Mercedes.
It is said the incident on March 4 at around 11pm happened when Pete was allegedly driving fast in a residential street before losing control.
Sources also claimed Pete curbed the car and ran over a fire hydrant before hitting the house.
On the night, police didn’t suspect drugs or alcohol to be involved, and Pete was not arrested.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident, although the homeowner reportedly suggested the 16-year-old who was in the building at the time was ‘a bit’ traumatised.
However, the homeowner added that they didn’t have any intention of filing a lawsuit against the comedian.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office told the outlet: ‘Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.
‘In 2022, traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached the highest levels seen in 20 years.
‘This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. As a result, it’s crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable.’
The DA’s office told PA news agency: ‘We believe that Mr Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home.’
The Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts star is due to be arraigned on July 27.
