Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby avoid mention of rumoured fallout during This Morning return

The show began in an unconventional way to promote ’s new live-action movie with Halle Bailey, with acclaimed composer Alan Menken playing some of his most celebrated scores on the piano.

Holly, 42, beamed from ear-to-ear while standing next to Phillip, 61, as he joked that she could audition for a Disney production.

After making their first introduction, the duo sat down with Gyles Brandreth and Camilla Tominey to discuss the top headlines of the day – but refrained from bringing up their own friendship making the news.

Instead, they began the discussion by talking about Eurovision, with Holly admitting that she thoroughly enjoyed Finland’s runner-up performance.

After Alan’s stunning piano performance, Phillip said: ‘Wow, what a way to start your Monday This Morning. Welcome.’

He then turned to Holly to tell her: ‘That is right up your street.’

‘So up my street. It’s just a little taste of what we’ve got coming up later ahead of the release of The Little Mermaid.

‘Award-winning Disney composer Alan Menken will be performing a medley of some of his best-known songs, and I’m going to try really hard not to sing along.’

Phillip exclaimed to Holly: ‘This could be your audition! This could be the big moment.’

However, his co-host admitted that singing was not her ‘forte’.

While talking about the news that travellers could fly to Sydney in two hours via space within the next 10 years, Holly turned to Phillip while pondering over whether he would be up for the journey.

Earlier on in the day, Phillip was photographed as he made his way to work at the ITV studio, looking extremely solemn as he walked around a car.

The TV personality dressed casually for his journey, wearing a pale shirt, a pair of blue jeans and brown boots while carrying a black bag on his shoulder.

A source claimed that Phillip believed that he could ‘tough out’ the situation he and Holly currently face.

‘He will think he can tough it out, like he has previous controversies such as Queue-gate,’ they told .

‘But to be honest, it’s out of his hands. If the viewers don’t believe in him and Holly, something’s got to give – and that will most likely be Phil. It’s a massive week for them both.’

It was previously alleged by the that he had reached out to lawyers to ensure his return to This Morning, with sources stating that it was a ‘clear sign that he is taking this very seriously’.

In a statement shared last week, Phillip described Holly as his ‘rock’.

‘As I have said before, Holly is my rock,’ he said. ‘We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.’

He continued to : ‘Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.

‘The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.’
