has teased his Twitter followers about wanting to return to the judging panel after speculation over whether will be returning to his role as a judge.

Earlier this month, the best-selling children’s author and Little Britain TV comedy star issued an apology after a  about auditionees.

Walliams had called one elderly performer the C-word three times after he walked off stage and said of a woman hopeful: ‘She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them but you don’t,’ according to the L***ed transcript.

His  chats between him and fellow judges , and at the  Palladium in January 2020.

While no judges have yet been confirmed for this year’s series, rumours have started swirling about Walliams quitting the show after a decade as a judge.

And now Morgan seems to have thrown his hat into the ring for taking on the replacement role, as he wrote on Twitter: ‘Time to get the old band back together, @SimonCowell?’ alongside a picture of the original judging panel and to an article claiming Walliams has ‘sensationally quit’ the show.

Morgan was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent from its first to its fourth series, between 2007 and 2010, alongside Cowell and Holden.

He also appeared on the America’s Got Talent panel around the same time, and left his judging role to focus on a CNN talkshow.

The Talk TV host has previously addressed a return to the series, having written on Twitter back in 2019: ‘Sadly, @SimonCowell can’t afford me anymore…’

Walliams and Morgan have a fraught history, with Morgan recently writing on Twitter: ‘Tip of the iceberg.. Walliams is one of the nastiest frauds in TV,’ after the expose.

Earlier this year,  had some choice words for  while sharing his ‘love’ for the rest of the show’s judges.

Posting on Twitter in May, he shared his thoughts on the 2022 series. ‘Love the judging panel on @BGT – apart from David Walliams,’ he wrote.

‘All he does is drip & drool unctuously sycophantic drivel, and he’s soooooo creepy.’

Morgan has made his feelings known about Walliams on several occasions too, previously branding him a ‘treacherous piece of work,’ and earlier this year, the journalist (NTAs), which were hosted by Walliams.

‘There’s no point when the same people win the same awards every year,’ he said. I’d rather stay at home and watch Groundhog Day and the host David Walliams makes my skin crawl.’

While it is being reported that Walliams has now ‘quit’ Britain’s Got Talent, a source has said that a decision was yet to be made about his future on the show.

‘It’s still very much up in the air at the moment on whether David is going to take part in next year’s show. No decision, though, has been made as yet,’ the insider told Metro.co.uk.

A spokesperson for BGT added that ‘the judging panel for Britain’s Got Talent 2023 will be announced in due course.’

The comments come after a source told  that David hadn’t ‘taken the decision lightly’ to leave, but that he ‘feels like it is time to move on’.
