Piers Morgan thinks ITV has ‘stepped up’ drama since he quit amid Phillip Schofield exit

has made a subtle dig at his former employer ITV and the recent drama surrounding .

The 58-year-old previously hosted but quit after he stormed off the set and refused to apologise for comments made about .

The broadcaster then found a home at News UK’s struggling TV channel, talkTV, where he has since 2021, interviewing high-profile .

However, Piers has not been short of criticism of ITV, particularly in the wake of Phillip Schofield with a younger runner on This Morning.

He claimed that ‘everybody at ITV knew’ about the relationship. The broadcaster has always denied knowledge of the romance and said they felt ‘badly let down.’

In a further rant in June, he fumed the way the broadcaster handled talent ‘was morally schizophrenic’ and also slammed the way his exit was handled, saying he ‘got nothing.’

While Piers has made his thoughts about the network pretty clear, he was asked if he was missing the ‘drama’ at the TRIC Awards earlier this week, where he won a gong for .

‘Well, I thought I brought a bit of punch to ITV morning. But my God, they’ve stepped things up, haven’t they,’ he told .

The broadcaster’s boss Carolyn McCall was at This Morning in a government committee, saying she was ‘disappointed’ by the claims.

‘We do not recognise that in This Morning and the reason for that is that we have tangible evidence to tell you that the vast majority of people at daytime and at This Morning are engaged,’ she insisted.

Piers, meanwhile, has recently claimed Phillip, 61, has been struggling since stepping down from all ITV projects after confessing to lying about the affair.

Having previously come to the former Dancing On Ice presenter’s defence, Piers said: ‘I’ve been in touch with Phillip and I think he’s struggling.’

He added to : ‘It’s tough to leave any big job, let alone when its a big Scan**l. But he’ll be back. I think he can bounce back.
