fans were shocked to discover just how deep Australia’s fandom for the singer ran after surprising facts about her surfaced on Twitter.

The 43-year-old hitmaker regularly stops off in the Aussie nation while on tour and has experienced exponential success with record-breaking concert and album sales.

Listed as one of the most highly regarded touring artists in the country’s history, Pink – real name Alecia Beth Moore – first performed there in 2007 and has racked up millions of ticket sales ever since.

Her Australian The Truth About Love tour leg was the biggest-selling tour for a female artist in the country’s history in 2013.

Over the weekend, Twitter users copped on to her extreme popularity in Oz and began debating why she was so loved in a country that wasn’t her own.

The initial message came from a fan that had quoted a video of the star flipping through the air during a stunt-filled performance.

It read: ‘random but apparently Pink is incredibly popular amongst Australian moms to the point where every Pink tour has a few months blocked out for an Australian leg where she plays like 5 nights of sold out shows in every city [sic].’

Others chimed in offering their two cents on the Just Give Me A Reason chart-toppers fan base.

One typed: ‘i’m learning so much about pink’s aussie popularity in the replies to this tweet – radio dominance, 18-night sold out tour stops, arena plaques, bathrooms painted pink, aussies who either thought she was aussie or assumed that she was just as popular internationally [sic].’

Another joked: ‘I can totally imagine Aussie women of a certain age getting drunk and going to see Pink in concert. It just makes a lot of sense’

‘i can confirm this is exactly how it appears [sic],’ a fan posted underneath the thread on the social media app.

A further social media account confirmed: ‘This is actually true. She holds the record for the most amount of shows ever played by one artist at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. She played there for 18 nights [sic].’
