Pokémon Go’s next big event is coming up and it looks like Ultra Beast Nihilego is going to be a major part of it.
In a newly released teaser trailer, Pokémon Go developer Niantic have begun teasing the debut of the Ultra Beasts in their mobile game, with Nihilego being the first one to be hinted at.
Pulled in from another dimension, Pokémon’s Ultra Beasts were introduced in the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games. Right now, Pokémon Go is running the Season Of Alola, which is themed around the Sun and Moon entries in the series.
Nihilego is a rock and poison type, which should definitely make them a formidable opponent in the game’s player-versus-player modes.
While brief, the trailer does indicate that the upcoming will have Nihilego as its star of the raids. Niantic hasn’t revealed the last entry to the raid yet.
With hindsight, it appears that the game has been hinting at this since its announcement of what pokémon would be appearing in the event.
Unown, a pokémon that takes the form of the alphabet will be appearing in the shapes of ‘U’, ‘B’, ‘G’ and ‘O’, which if you’ve been following along seems to stand for ‘Ultra Beasts Go’.
Pokémon’s Ultra Beasts aren’t treated as legendaries but as a new breed of pokémon. In the Sun and Moon games, they’re wanted for their inter-dimensional powers and it’s up to the player to – you guessed it – catch ’em all.
The trailer also teases Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon’s dimensional faction, Ultra Recon Squad, which could potentially replace the thugs that currently litter the map.
As of right now, Pokémon Go houses over 400 of the nearly 1,000 different pokémon, introducing them in waves like the upcoming Fest.
The was centred around easing the restrictions on the game’s mega evolutions, removing a lot of the previous requirements.
Pokémon Go Fest begins June 4 and will roll into June 5. It features a chance to catch Shaymin, a legendary Pokémon who has yet to be added to the game.
