Sony has shared exact worldwide release dates for its new PS Plus service and, unfortunately, the UK will be among the last to get it.

We already knew that Sony would introduce its later this summer, but it never provided an exact date. Just as before though, the dates have been announced with strangely little fanfare, with Sony simply updating the original blog announcement.

For whatever reason, the launch won’t be a simultaneous worldwide release and will instead be spread out over the course of a month.

Asian markets, except for Japan, will receive it first in just a month’s time, on May 23. Japan itself will need to wait an extra week until June 1.

It will then release in the Americas on June 13, less than two weeks later, before finally coming to Europe and the United Kingdom on June 22. Yes, unfortunately, we come last.

The only other thing Sony announced was that it will be expanding its cloud streaming access to more countries and the following locations will have access to the new Premium tier of PS Plus at launch:

  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Malta
  • Poland
  • Republic of Cyprus
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia

The wording is a little odd but it does seem as if Sony is making an effort to ensure more countries get access to streaming, and what was PS Now, as soon as possible.

For what’s meant to be Sony’s big response to Xbox Game Pass, these PS Plus reveals have been surprisingly low-key, with Sony making the very minimal of efforts with the announcements.

It still hasn’t even confirmed which retro games will be available through the Premium tier, despite it being a huge selling factor. It’s suspected that the library will include , but there’s supposed to be hundreds of games in total.

You can read the updated announcement via , but it doesn’t really help in understanding where Sony’s head is with the revamped service.
