Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced they are launching a new radio channel dedicated to the ‘vast, funky world’ of the band.

The US ensemble has teamed up with Sirius XM to launch Whole Lotta Red Hot, which promises to give fans a deep dive into the California-based rock band’s life and back catalogue.

Launching on Friday, April 1, the station’s debut will coincide with the release of RHCP’s latest album, Unlimited Love, and the band will celebrate by sharing an exclusive track-by-track commentary on Whole Lotta Red Hot.

The station will also feature music from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ entire career, including studio cuts and live recordings, as well as songs chosen by the band members themselves.

Whole Lotta Red Hot will also have exclusive stories and anecdotes from band members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante peppered throughout.

The station will also air a classic live concert from the band’s archives once a month, kicking off on launch day with a never-before aired 2006 show that the band played at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have another cause for celebration as the band is also due to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in Los Angeles on March 31, a day before the launch of the station.

The band are also set to start a 32-date stadium tour next year, which will see them return to Manchester, where they will be supported by A$AP Rocky and Thundercat, and Glasgow and London, where they will be supported by Anderson Paak and The Free Nationals as well as Thundercat on their UK leg.

They are also set to visit Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France and Canada, as well as performing their US dates.
