A producer for Rust believes that the film can still be completed, .
The cinematographer died in October, at the age of 42, after a prop gun that was holding accidentally discharged during a rehearsal.
She was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries, with tributes paid from across Hollywood.
Filming was shut down shortly after, as a police investigation was launched into the ordeal, to determine what went wrong and who is to blame.
In a new interview, Anjul Nigam described it as a ‘horrific tragedy’, and shared his hopes that the production can still be completed in the future.
‘Rust is obviously a horrific tragedy,’ he said.Â
‘The investigation will hopefully be resolved soon and will unveil what happened.
‘Obviously, there will be people out there who will have negative perspectives, but we’re confident about continuing to make quality movies.
‘We’re confident we’ll be able to complete the movie,’ he added to .
His words come after the New Mexico Environment Department said on set of the flick – something bosses have contested.
A report found that the production company ‘knew that firearm safety procedures were not being followed on set’ and ‘demonstrated plain indifference to employee safety’.
Following a six-month investigation, RMP was fined $136,793 (£104k) – which is the maximum civil penalty allowed by state law in New Mexico.
‘Our investigation found that this tragic incident never would have happened if Rust Movie Productions, LLC had followed national film industry standards for firearm safety,’ New Mexico’s environment cabinet secretary James Kenney said in a statement.
‘This is a complete failure of the employer to follow recognized national protocols that keep employees safe.’
A statement from Baldwin’s lawyers was later shared on social media, in the investigation.
‘We are grateful to the New Mexico occupational health and safety bureau for investigating this matter,’ it read.
‘We appreciate that the report exonerates Mr Baldwin by making clear that he believed the gun held only dummy rounds.
‘Additionally, the report recognises that Mr Baldwin’s authority on the production was limited to approving script changes and creative casting.
‘Mr Baldwin had no authority over the matters that were the subject of the bureau’s findings of violations, and we are pleased that the New Mexico officials have clarified these critical issues.
‘We are confident that the individuals identified in the report will be held accountable for this tragedy.’
