Sandra Bullock has been left devastated by the fallout from her role in the Blind Side, following a lawsuit from Michael Oher, it has been claimed.
Earlier this week, Michael made headlines when he filed legal documents alleging that under a conservatorship instead of adopting him.
The 37-year-old – the focus of the acclaimed sports biopic – claimed that they enriched themselves at his expense, , as well as asking for an accounting of the money earned from the use of his name and story.
Since his lawsuit was made public, some have suggested thatof Leigh Anne – with her former co-star Quinton Aaron jumping to her defense.
An insider has now claimed that the Speed star, , is ‘upset’ over the backlash.
‘She hates that such a wonderful story, a spectacular movie, and a spectacular time in her life now has been tainted,’ they said. ‘Now people won’t watch it and if they do, they will have a completely different reaction to its original intention.’
‘There was so much hard work put into the film that they all thought was the truth and now that has been questioned, it just upsets Sandra to no end that a time in her life that was so special, is now shadowed with a completely different perspective.’
The source explained that, following a tough few months, the Hollywood favorite is putting on a ‘strong front’ amid the turmoil.
‘Sandra is putting up a strong face and a strong front as it has been a rough patch for her emotionally with the loss of Bryan, and now she is heartbroken in a different way with all the fallout from the Michael Oher news,’ they added to .
‘She is figuring out how to move forward from it all, it is just going to take a little bit, but emotions are very high right now for Sandra and she is looking forward to better days ahead.’
In the paperwork, the Super Bowl winner claimed that all four members of the Tuohy family were paid $225,000 plus 2.5% of the film’s ‘defined net proceeds’, while he received nothing.
In a statement, the family slammed his allegations as ‘hurtful and absurd’ via their lawyer, Martin Singer.
‘Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see that the outlandish claims made by Michael Oher about the Tuohy family are hurtful and absurd,’ it read. ‘The idea that the Tuohy’s have ever sought to profit off Mr Oher is not only offensive, it is transparently ridiculous.
‘Through hard work and good fortune, Sean and Leigh Anne have made an extraordinary amount of money in the restaurant business.
‘The notion that a couple worth hundreds of millions of dollars would connive to withhold a few thousand dollars in profit participation payments from anyone – let alone from someone they loved as a son – defies belief.’
Michael’s emotional story was made into the 2009 flick, which was nominated for best picture and best actress at the Oscars, with Sandra taking home the coveted trophy in 2010.
Fans on social media have called for her award to be rescinded in the wake of Michael’s lawsuit, with many more insisting that she has no blame in the situation.
While she has not addressed the criticism herself, Quinton leapt to her defense in a chat with TMZ, vowing: ‘She gave a brilliant performance, and that shouldn’t be tarnished for something that had nothing to do with her.
‘To make a statement like that doesn’t make any sense. Sandra Bullock didn’t have anything to do with the real story that we’re reading as of right now.’
