Warning: Spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6 episode 7!
The Better Call Saul mid-season 6 finale has literally blown people’s minds with the episode, titled Plan and Execution, serving an almighty cliffhanger nobody saw coming.
The instalment finally marked the end of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler’s (Rhea Seehorn) mission to put a stop to enemy Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), with a brutal cold-blooded murder blind-siding fans in the closing scenes.
In quite possibly the most brutal moment of the show to date, Howard was shot in the head by Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) as he confronted the Goodmans in their home about their plot to smear his name.
Unsurprisingly, fans were shaken by the scenes at hand, with one declaring: ‘I feel like I just witnessed one of the greatest episodes of a show in TV history.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another said: ‘I fully understand why Bob Odenkirk had a heart attack filming this season. Christ.’
‘My heart can’t handle all of these emotions. What a phenomenal episode, and a masterful way to end the first half of the season. Can’t wait for July!’ a third said.
Better Call Saul star Patrick has since reflected on the moment he learned about his character’s fate, revealing he was completely unaware until reading the script for the episode.
‘I didn’t know until I read [the script for episode] seven. Rhea texted me and said, “Seven’s dropped. Have you read it yet?” And I was like, “Oh”,’ Fabian revealed.
‘I have to say, as much as it plays out on the screen, on the page it also is very abrupt. There’s that weird finality where you go, “Did I just read what I read?”
He added to Vanity Fair: ‘It’s supposed to linger and have that impact. I bet there’ll be a lot of people screaming at the television.’
Better Call Saul season 6 part 2 arrives July 11 on Netflix.
