didn’t find the rumour that had died on Sunday very funny at all.
The singer, the (very much alive) judge’s ex-girlfriend and close friend, took to Instagram on Monday in a bit of a spin.
Accompanied by a blurry photo of what appears to be her hand, Sinitta wrote: ‘There is a terrible prank that has died. It freaked me out last night when people started messaging me!
‘Simon is NOT dead People. Very much Alive and Well Thank God I have a great sense if humour but you really scared me ’.
Sense of humour or not, the 59-year-old singer was clearly shaken by the fake story, which circulated amongst Simon’s fans on social media.
This comes just after the star accused Celebs Go Dating – a show she recently appeared on to find love – of ‘disgraceful editing’.
The So Macho singer claimed the show made her out to be still ‘in love’ with Simon.
She said: ‘Disgraceful editing! To say I was still “in love” with was a huge disservice to me and my endeavours.
‘Why did you do this? Love and “in Love” are very different’.
The pair were on and off for 20 years since they first met in the 1980s, before Simon dated and then married Lauren Silverman, with whom he shares their eight-year-old son, Eric.
Sinitta and the 63-year-old music mogul remain great pals with the former being Eric’s godmother.
In July last year, Sinitta even to officiate Simon and Lauren’s wedding.
She told Good Morning Britain at the time: ‘I am ordained so I could actually officiate if Simona and Lauren would like me to.’
That’s what friends are for, right?
