Sir is officially on the mend after recent surgery, and now he’s ready to become Del Boy once more… for one time only.
The English actor, 84, previously in a video posted to social media after reportedly undergoing hip surgery 2023.
He also recently made fans’ dreams come true to take pictures with delighted devotees.
Now the TV veteran, whose career has spanned across seven decades, will star as his famous Peckham wheeler-dealer character once more for a comical second-hand car advert.
The advert is set to promote the new season of Car SOS, the show that follows the refurbishment and restoration of second-hand (and even third-hand) cars.
Car SOS presenter Tim Shaw, 49, told the about how he secured Sir David for the role: ‘David was a special guest on an episode and I managed to persuade him to do Del Boy again.’
He continued: ‘It was one of the highlights of my life. When was the last time we saw David playing Del Boy? I can’t remember. So it was absolutely surreal.’
To answer Tim’s question, Sir David last appeared as Del Boy in 2021, when he reprised the role to wish the England men’s football team good luck in the semi-finals and final of their Euros campaign.
Reports have suggested that the sketch will see Del Boy help with the restoration of a Datsun 240k Skyline, a car that was popular in the 1970s.
Tim added: ‘I told David I had an idea for a sketch and he dropped straight into it. The next thing he’s Del Boy and he’s reading a newspaper and he’s selling some car parts on eBay.’
The new series of Car SOS will first be available on March 7 via the National Geographic Channel but will be ready for streaming on and in the near future.
It’s been a , with his on-screen return as Del Boy coinciding with his BBC series David & Jay’s Touring Toolshed being unexpectedly pulled from the air.
The series sees the pair park up their mobile toolshed at steam engine rallies, vintage festivals, and county fairs to meet some of the UK’s most talented crafters and makers and tinkerers.
However, having only just started in January, an episode expected to be broadcast on February 7 was suddenly removed from BBC schedules to make way for coverage from the African Cup of Nations football tournament.
Thankfully, the BBC repaid fans of the show by reinstating David & Jay’s Touring Toolshed to the schedule and also broadcast an additional special episode to make up for the missing one.
