Sir has spoken about whether he will continue to perform live, following his retirement.
Sir Elton retired from touring last year, saying , the final show of the 330-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The event took place after Elton’s huge set in 2023 – with some fans believing they may not have the opportunity to see the singer perform live again
In a candid excerpt from his new book published on September 24, the 77-year-old singer revealed he still plans to perform live – but not to tour again.
The singer said in Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories Of My Life on Tour: ‘I’ve been clear with my fans that while the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the culmination of my touring career, I still plan to perform live.
‘What this will entail I don’t know yet.’
, after a moving performance of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton told the thousands in the crowd: ‘The last one and we’re ending it in the beautiful city of Stockholm in Sweden. My very first (show) Sweden was July 7 1971, so more or less 52 years ago to the day.’
He thanked his superfans who had supported him for decades throughout his career: ‘You have no idea how much that means to me.’
He then reflected: ‘I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music?
‘But I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, albums and CDs and more importantly, you bought the to the shows and you know how I love to play live.’
At the time he confirmed to fans that he would ‘never be touring again’, but revealed he may do a ‘one-off thing’ sometime in the future – adding that would be ‘miles away’.
Last week, the Your Song legend revealed after struggling with an infection.
‘Over the , I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,’ he began.
‘I am healing but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.’
‘I am grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.
He revealed he felt positive about his recovery but spent the past few months recuperating. ‘I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far,’ he said.
Although he may not be touring anytime soon, since finishing his lengthy tour last year he has released this recent book and has promoted his upcoming documentary titled Elton John: Never Too Late!
The documentary will examine his career in detail and will be released on December 13 through Disney Plus.
