When a 93-year-old great-grandmother was faced with legal bills of thousands of dollars, stepped in to help.
The , 51, donated a whopping $10,000 (£7,800) to the funds of Josephine Wright, who is in a legal battle against land developers.
Her family have owned her Hilton Head Island home in the state of South Carolina since the American Civil War, which occurred between 1861 and 1865.
She has been sued by Bailey Point Investment LLC, who have claimed that parts of her family home have been built on property they have legal ownership of.
The company initially offered Josephine $30k (£23.4k) as part of their plan to build almost 150 homes on the site, but the great-grandmother turned it down.
Since then, she has filed a countersuit against Bailey Point and has accused them of ‘harassment and intimidation’ – soon, hip hop royalty became aware.
Speaking to , Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., said that once he heard about the case, he couldn’t stop himself from becoming emotional.
The Drop It Like It’s Hot hitmaker said Josephine’s story hit close to home: ‘I did it from the heart. She reminds me of my mother and grandmother.’
Bailey Point has claimed that a satellite dish, a shed, and a screened-in porch belonging to Josephine have delayed the construction of the new homes.
Hilton Head Island was a place of refuge for hundreds of ex-slaves fleeing from the south during the Civil War, and is a site of historical importance.
In addition to Snoop Dogg, the story has also touched the hearts of other American celebrities, including Star Trek and Vice actor Tyler Perry.
Posting on his official Instagram account, Tyler said: ‘Ms. Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight.’
Last month, it was revealed that rapper Tupac Shakur, who was a friend of Snoop’s, will be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Snoop and Shakur, who was only 25 when he was Ki**ed in a drive-by shooting in 1996, were both signed to Death Row Records at the time of his death.
Shakur, who went by the stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, died six days after the shooting – with Snoop revealing details of visiting the late rapper in hospital.
He said: ‘When I walked in [to his room at the hospital], I could just feel like he wasn’t even there and I fainted.’
