Sofía Vergara has reportedly been ‘living her best life’ just weeks after her , Joe Manganiello.
The former couple announced that they were calling it quits and filing for at the beginning of the week, with a source now claiming the marriage was ‘stifling’.
Sofía, 51, tied the knot with the Magic Mike XXL actor, 46, in 2015, saying their vows in a star-studded ceremony in Palm Beach.
Revealing their decision to split, the pair called it a ‘difficult decision’ and vowed that they still had ‘love and care for one another’.
Joe has since filed for divorce, listing the date of their separation as July 2, while Sofía recently returned from a luxurious birthday trip to Italy with friends to celebrate her birthday.
A source told : ‘Sofía’s living her best life. She’s spending time with her friends after being stifled in a relationship with a largely unsupportive partner.’
‘Sofía was always there to take care of Joe, while his career was never what it was when they met. I think he’s been threatened by her success and joie de vivre,’ they added.
Announcing their decision to divorce in a joint statement to the publication, Sofía and Joe said: ‘We have made the difficult decision to divorce.
‘As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.’
At the time, an insider claimed that their break-up was due to them ‘growing apart’.
The source continued: ‘Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.’
Sofía’s Instagram has been flooded with photos of her braving the heatwave in Italy with pals and seemingly having a fabulous time without her former spouse.
Multiple uploads show her enjoying the fine food and weather against stunning backdrops.
As well as video clip showing her being serenaded in a restaurant in front of a cake decorated with sparklers for her birthday, she later uploaded a picture of herself at dinner with a pal.
‘When life gives u lemons u come to Italy to squeeze them,’ wrote in a caption that seemed to nod towards the news of her impending divorce breaking.
Sofía started dating Joe in 2014, following her split from fiancé Nick Loeb, and they announced their engagement six months later, on Christmas Eve.
They, with the sitcom icon’s Modern Family co-stars among the guests in California.
The True Blood star previously couldn’t rave about his partner enough in a rare chat with Cigar Aficionado, telling the outlet: ‘There’s nobody I’d rather spend time with. She was it for me.
‘People say things like, “Marriage and relationships are work.” But it’s not. Life is hard. Having somebody to help you deal with it is the greatest thing that ever happened.’
He also deemed it ‘such an easy relationship, easy in all the right ways’.
Meanwhile Sofía revealed she had once told Joe that he was ‘too handsome’ to date.
‘I didn’t want to go into a relationship with somebody that … I thought he was going to be too much work, because girls were throwing themselves at him. ‘I’m like, “Ay! No! Please, I want somebody normal”,’ she said during a 2015 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
