Savvy fans have managed to save money on PS Plus Premium thanks to a PS Now loophole, but Sony has since shut it down.

This June will see Sony implement its revised . Part of that involves merging it with PlayStation Now, turning it into a more expensive tier rather than a separate service.

Originally, a yearly PS Now subscription would cost you £49.99, but that will go up to £99.99 once it becomes PlayStation Plus Premium. Sony was offering to convert existing PS Now subscriptions to PS Now at no extra cost but it has now removed the option to buy annual PS Now subscriptions.

However, a , shared by Wario64 on Twitter, for PlayStation Store website allowed you to buy an annual PS Now subscription for the original yearly price of £49.99. Or at least it did until Sony shut it down.

Since you could also stack subscriptions, you could theoretically pay for up to 10 years’ worth of PS Premium half the price price. Especially since all PS Now subscribers will automatically migrate to the new tier in June.

Unfortunately, since Sony caught wind of the loophole the only way to subscribe to PS Now now is via a monthly subscription of £8.99, which will eventually bump up to £13.49.

The still says that, ‘If you purchase PlayStation Now and are subscribed when the service changes, you will be migrated to a new PlayStation Plus membership plan and you will continue to have access to the same benefits from PlayStation Now.’

If you’re wondering why PS Now is effectively becoming more expensive, it’s because PS Premium offers more. Aside from including everything from the other two tiers – PlayStation Plus Essential and PlayStation Plus Extra – it offers exclusive game trials for select games and access to games from previous PlayStation consoles.

Specifically, the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable. Currently, PS Now doesn’t offer original PlayStation or PSP games.

Things aren’t so bad for current PS Plus subscribers. You can still subscribe for either £6.99 every month, £19.99 every three months, or £49.99 every 12 months and these prices won’t change once it’s converted into PlayStation Plus Essential.
