Steve Harvey appears to have addressed the reports that his stepdaughter Lori Harvey has split from Michael B Jordan and he’s backing her all the way.Â
It’s claimed that skincare boss after more than a year of dating.Â
A source said that the former couple are ‘completely heartbroken’ by the split but ‘still love each other’. It’s suggested that Michael, 35, was ready to settle down and ‘commit for the long term’ with Lori, 25, having ‘matured’ a great deal throughout their relationship.
On Monday morning, Lori’s stepfather Steve is reported to have spoken about the break-up on his radio programme The Steve Harvey Morning Show, and it didn’t sound as though he was too devastated about it.
In a clip shared by TheShadeRoom, his co-host Shirley Strawberry is heard saying through laughter: ‘We tryna make sure Lori’s alright.’
Steve then joked: ‘I gotta start learning from my children, get out early or it costs you something,’ prompting Shirley to quip: ‘Don’t make this about you.’Â
Continuing his gag, the comedian went on: ‘I waited way too late. I’ve got to figure this out.’
Shirley then reasoned: ‘Sometimes people do grow apart,’ but Steve wasn’t ready to let it go and added: ‘I’m gonna have to start breaking up on IG ‘cause this going to court is costly.’
His co-host then exclaimed: ‘We love you, Lori,’ before telling Steve: ‘You so stupid.’
Lori and Michael are yet to confirm the news publicly but she seemed to have a busy weekend attending a friend’s baby shower, which she posted on her Instagram stories.
Meanwhile, the Creed actor stepped out on his own at the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics basketball game in San Francisco on Sunday. Sitting courtside, and nodded as the cameras panned on him and he realised he was being filmed.Â
The pair were one of Hollywood’s favourite new couples with fans swooning over their loved-up social media posts since they struck up a romance in 2020.
It was thought that Steve had a good relationship with Michael as he previously praised his stepdaughter’s boyfriend, saying on The Ellen Show that the actor had ‘really come through’ on Christmas presents for the family, joking ‘that’s why I like him’.
Michael once revealed why he chose to go public with his first high-profile relationship, explaining to The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I’m still private, and I want to protect that, but it just felt like it was a moment of just wanting to put it out there and move on.
‘I am extremely happy. I think when you get older, you feel more comfortable about the [public nature] of the business that we’re in. So for me, it was a moment to, I guess, take ownership of that and then get back to work.’
Since reports of the split broke, Lori has been inundated with interest from admirers, including Jersey Shore star Vinny Gaudagnino and Afrobeats artist Davido who have both tried to ‘shoot their shot’ on Instagram.
