has been left in aafter a fan tried to get him to sign a marriage certificate.
The actor, 34, was appearing at Comic Con in Montreal last weekend of the hit series.
However a video posted online by a fan has sparked significant criticism after the person shared that she had tried to get Jamie to sign what looked like a pretty authentic document.
‘He signed the wrong spot on the first one. He’s amazing!’ she captioned the video, seemingly revealing she’d tried to do the same thing before.
In the video, the fan can be heard chatting to the actor as he signs various posters and photos.
After noticing he was being filmed Jamie looked a bit taken aback but continued talking.
But the video then cut to Jamie being handed a piece of paper and said: ‘Is this legally binding?’
Taking the time to read what he’d been handed, the fan could be heard telling Jamie it wasn’t going to be legitimate even if he signed it, however he still looked a bit unsure.
‘I don’t know. I’m concerned. It does make me worried,’ he said.
After the fan apologised, Jamie then told her not to worry, however after she again asked him to sign it, he then said he still didn’t feel comfortable.
While Jamie was polite throughout, the fan then asked if she could have a ‘refund’ of the money she had paid to meet him and get him to sign items after she didn’t get exactly what she wanted.
Although their conversation ended with Jamie saying it had been nice to see her again, many people weren’t impressed watching what played out.
‘I’m sorry but Jamie looks so uncomfortable with the situation. Why insist if he doesn’t want to? I think that’s rude and he doesn’t deserve that,’ one person commented on the video.
‘Why did he not have anyone available to intervene and escort her away since she was clearly crossing every boundary he laid down? He needs security,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘Omg aren’t you embarrassed?! My stomach hurts. He was so good and patient dealing with you, I do not possess this level of poker face.’
Many others pointed out that it was also ‘insane’ to have asked for a refund.
After joining the fourth season of Stranger Things last year, Jamie added to his list of successful franchise appearances after appearing in The Twilight Saga, Mortal Instruments and Harry Potter.
Taking on the role of villain Vecna involved each day, while he also undertook .
‘I would take photographs of each victim [of Vecna],’ he said.
‘I’d print them off, my next victim, and I would cross their eyes out and put them up on my wall.’
He then explained to People that he’d then just ‘stare at them’ to get into the right headspace.
Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.
