The trailer for season 4 volume 2 has landed and we need a lie down to process what’s coming.
Netflix released volume 1 of the fourth instalment last month, following a three-year wait.
So far, the fourth season has been nothing less than ultra-dramatic, and the heat is about to turn up in the next two episodes.
The tense trailer comes after the creators of the show said that every character’s life is now ‘on the line’ as they wanted to go down the route of a ‘full-blown horror film’ – we can safely say that we’ve got the creeps from this 30-second clip alone.
Throwing fans straight into the drama, the trailer begins with Millie Bobby-Brown’s character being warned: ‘It is over, Eleven.’
The youngster can be seen with bloody eyes and an angry expression, as she embarks on the fight to regain her powers.
‘You have freed me. You can’t stop this now,’ the threatening voice continues.
We then see Nancy (Natalia Dryer), who has followed Steve (Joe Keery) into the Upside Down along with Robin (Maya Hawke) and Eddie (Joseph Quinn).
Understandably spooked, the group turn around and look at Vecna’s grandfather clock behind them, which suggests Nancy was able to be saved from the trance Vecna put her under at the end of volume 1.
We don’t details, but there might not be time to process them anyway, since there’s even more peril ahead for the friends.
Another shot of the teaser shows Robin completely trapped by vines in the Upside Down, with Nancy and Steve trying to set her free.
The writers really didn’t hold back with this season, huh? We’ll have to keep pausing just to catch our breath!
Speaking to EW recently, producer and writer Matt Duffer that will see all the gang in ‘jeopardy.’
‘A lot of [the darker tone] was driven by the fact that we had these — I still call them kids, even though I know they’re not kids, but they feel like my kids — is that they were heading into high school. And it felt like the right time to put them into a full-blown horror film,’ he said.
‘We’re dealing with darker themes, and issues that come along with being a teenager, because for at least Ross and I, and I think for most people, high school is a challenging time. And you’re experiencing a lot of dark emotions for the first time.’
So, it’s time to start sweating over the fates of your favourite characters, because Matt promises that villainous ‘does not pull punches.’
Tune in for S4 volume 2 on July 1 to find out who will face the wrath of Vecna. Volume 1 streams now on Netflix.
