Molly, who flew through the competition to reach the finals, was the youngest-ever contestant at the time.
She went on to clinch her own CBBC show, Nova Jones, and is now in the semi-finals of the 2022 series of Strictly alongside partner Carlos Gu.
The dancer, singer and actress appeared on The One Show on Thursday to tell hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating about her time on the dancing competition, only to end up taking a trip down memory lane when she was reunited with Simon.
Recalling her audition and the nerves she felt as a young child performing in front of thousands of people, she said her mum was sometimes able to ‘convince me it wasn’t as big of a deal.’
‘But in the Apollo [theatre] with 4,000 people in the audience, parts of me were shaking that I didn’t know could shake,’ she joked.
Simon meanwhile, who was on the show to promote a new single from former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan, remembered her audition well, saying he always remembers the ‘great’ ones.
‘That was a big song,’ he recalled. ‘At that age, how on earth do you do this without shaking or falling apart?
‘I remember thinking it was incredible. You do remember those great auditions.’
Elsewhere in the same interview, Molly admitted it had been ‘disheartening’ to end up in Strictly’s dreaded dance-off a total of four times so far.
Last week however, the pair gained their highest score ever at 38 points.
‘It’s a bit disheartening because you think “what is it that people don’t vote for? What did we not do?”
‘Being there four times, the first time was scariest one,’ he admitted.
‘But as we’ve gone through [the competition] we pick ourselves up quicker.
‘And at this stage in the competition everyone is so good.’
