came alive on Saturday night to the soundtrack of one of the greatest boybands of all time – none other than .
Offering up hit after glorious hit, the three-piece powerhouse blasted crowds at Hyde Park with the sweet sounds of pop’s hall of fame as they danced amongst a never-ending swirl of confetti.
The band headlined the (BST) festival in the capital and fans watched on in pure awe as , Howard Donald and Mark Owen reunited for their only UK live date of the year.
Before Take That arrived, The Script kept crowds entertained with their smash hits before the intro to The Flood filled the field and three stoic figures emerged from beneath the stage.
Emulating everything a boyband should be, they launched onto the runway – Gary dressed all in white, Mark donning a fluffy white long coat and Howard sported a beige suit.
Before long we were all matching the synchronised dance moves as we screamed the world to the songs of our youth – Take That was back and ready to put on the nostalgia show of the season.
Barely stopping to chat, it was one banger after the next as the set list moved swiftly on, never letting up exuding a gleeful atmosphere perfect for a summery Saturday night.
What could only be described as a massive party in the park, a real sense of togetherness fell over the audience as we sang in unison alongside the heroes of a generation.
Gary momentarily halted proceedings to invite Calum Scott onto the stage and now the foursome played a remixed version of their track Greatest Day.
It was a touching moment to see the former Britain’s Got Talent contestant reunite with the band following their coronation performance and fans were overjoyed when the opening chords of the singer’s own hit began to play.
Offering the star his own moment, Take That supported Calum as he beautifully sang Dancing on My Own to a welcoming crowd.
Because the band on their own just wasn’t enough of a throwback, they decided to add another blast from the past into the mix and invited Lulu to join them for their fiery rendition of Relight My Fire.
Injecting even more fun into their pop-tastic extravaganza, confetti canons were going wild as Shine blared through speakers.
The evening was nothing short of a 90s dream and as things began to wind down, the tempo sped up and anticipation for the song of the night grew.
What we had all been waiting for began in that oh-so-angelic choral refrain that has become somewhat of an anthem over the years – and we couldn’t get enough.
Never Forget was a real highlight moment as hands stretched high in the sky, clapping along in that universal way we all knew how while shouting the meaningful lyrics.
Promising they had time for one more, the band announced they were taking their next year and closed the almighty show with Rule The World.
A sea of phone torches lit up the iconic venue and we all sadly waved goodbye to the stars that had thoroughly thrilled us all from start to finish.
Whooshing fireworks signalled the end of the night and as the jovial punters made their way towards the tube it was clear the legendary band was well and truly Back For Good.
