Takeshi’s Castle, easily the most chaotic TV show ever made, is finally being given a proper reboot by Prime Video.

The Japanese game show sees contestants complete a series of near-impossible physical trials set by a count, often with some pretty savage results, and ran from 1986 to 1990.

It gained popularity in the UK when It was narrated by Craig Charles between 2002 and 2004 for Challenge TV, with the presenter going on to coin fans of the show ‘Keshi heads’.

It was then taken over by Dick and Dom but was not well received by said Keshi heads.

It’s not been confirmed who will be narrating the next run of episodes but unsurprisingly fans are adamant there is only one man for the job:

Prime Video confirmed the reboot will be part of its upcoming slate of Japanese projects and will air to more than 240 markets in 2023, according to Deadline.

The news comes after Ninja Warrior was also confirmed to be returning to ITV with a ‘revamp’, which is basically a very similar format to Takeshi’s Castle but has a live audience, there’s no Takeshi but there is Rochelle Humes instead so you win some you lose some.

Also returning as part of Prime Video’s huge Japanese slate is an adaptation of the hit anthology series Modern Love.

The first two series of the American adaptation of the popular New York Times column boasted a star-studded cast including Kit Harington, Anne Hathaway, Julia Garner and Anna Paquin.
