Kaitlin Tufts has opened up about being brutally dumped by fiancé Hall Toledano in the latest episode of Temptation Island, admitting she was totally ‘blindsided’.
After at the end of last week’s instalment, the 35-year-old could be seen making his way into the ladies’ villa, begging to speak to his partner.
In a bombshell moment, he announced that he ‘never had an emotional connection’ with the 31-year-old, and had fallen for Makayla Halstead in the few weeks that they had been living apart.
As their eight-year relationship came to an end, Hall walked out of the villa, leaving Kaitlin sobbing to her co-stars.
Discussing the scenes in a new chat, the fitness studio owner revealed that she didn’t see their break-up coming.
‘My first initial thought [in the moment] was that we’re leaving. He wants to be with me. He wants to get married. He was done with it, so I was completely blindsided,’ she said.
‘Going into it I feel like there was so much reassurance in our relationship.
‘I don’t want to be a hater on him or anything, but I just really didn’t believe anything like watching the video messages and stuff like that… I think he did what he had to do, but I’m grateful that they let him come see me.’
The pair as the first engaged couple to take part on the show, and had been vocal about their relationship issues in the past.
Kaitlin revealed her hesitation to move forward with her beau after Hall previously broke things off three years into their romance, and how difficult she found it to trust him again.
When asked about where they stand now, she continued to : ‘I mean, obviously, you’ll have to tune into the rest of the season to see how it ends, but the first time when I took him back, it was not easy to forgive him.
‘You’ll have to see what happens, but it took a lot to forgive. I don’t know if I could ever do it again.
Touching on where she stands now, she added that she is ‘very happy with how things played out and where I’m at today’.
Hall ended their engagement on Wednesday’s episode, telling his now-ex that he has ‘always been lost’.
‘I never had a real emotional connection with you, and I have tried my entire life to find that connection,’ he confessed.
‘You were the best person that I’ve ever met in my entire life, so I forced myself to go back to you and I have been lying to myself.
‘But I also never saw true love in your eyes to me. The day I proposed to you, I never saw true love in your eyes.’
‘My biggest fear is hurting you,’ he insisted, as she interjected: ‘And you’ve done it twice now.’
‘But I have to be happy,’ Hall added. ‘I’m not the one for you. You deserve so much better.’
Temptation Island airs on Wednesdays at 9pm on USA.
