was absolutely full of beans as he performed with his The 1975 bandmates at BBC Radio 1’s big weekend.
The group’s frontman, 34, put on an electric performance with the help of backing musicians, much to the delight of the thousands-strong crowd in Dundee.
Matty, George Daniel, Adam Hann, and Ross MacDonald were Saturday’s headliners, while the likes of , Mimi Webb, and also performed throughout the day.
In true Matty style, the Somebody Else hitmaker basically just did whatever he wanted while belting out his tunes.
Without a care in the world, he held a cigarette in his hand for most of the set, puffing away in between vocals.
He was also frequently swigging from a bottle of wine, which seems to be a tradition at The 1975 gigs now.
The potty-mouthed star was also forced to apologise for swearing during a speech as their performance streamed live on BBC iPlayer.
Although, given that most of their songs contain expletives, it was a pretty futile apology!
Fans went absolutely wild for the one-hour set, which also saw Matty shout out the Jonas Brothers, hailing them the ‘nicest guys’ after meeting backstage.
Their set concluded with Give Yourself A Try and also included classics such as Robbers, Sex, Love It If We Made It, and About You.
Matty’s mum, Loose Women’s Denise Welch, was also seen backstage, as he did his thing.
One person not present, however, was Taylor Swift.
Despite Matty attending several of her shows in the States over recent weeks, she is clearly nowhere near Dundee,
Romance rumours have continued to engulf the pair since Taylor
The Anti-Hero hitmaker, 33, and are said to have amicably called time on their long-term romance and sources claim there are no hard feelings.
‘It was not dramatic,’ an insider said last month.
‘The relationship had just run its course,’ the continued to.
Meanwhile, Taylor and Matty have been photographed together a few times now, with sources also on date nights.
However, there is with her relationship with Joe.
Neither Taylor nor Matty has confirmed or denied publicly that they’re an item, but fans are certainly invested in the possible romance.
Especially as Taylor has made it clear
‘I want you all to know that I’ve never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life, ever before,’ she said recently while performing in Massachusetts.
‘And I just wanna thank you for being a part of that,’ she sweetly added to her adoring fans.
‘It is not just the tour, I just, I don’t know… I feel like for the first time everything makes sense.’
Swifties were eager to connect the dots, believing her heartfelt speech to be a reference to the new man in her life.
But, both parties have remained tight-lipped on the specifics,
Who knows, maybe we’ll spot Matty at another Taylor show soon… or will we see her at a 1975 gig?
