The businesswoman, 29, is fighting for investment from Lord Sugar for her My Everyday Pyjamas line in tonight’s final, however, she’ll be charging her customers £39 for one pair of print pajamas, while competitive retailers are selling very similar pairs for £22.
On last week’s final four interviews episode, Kathryn suffered a pretty brutal grilling from Lord Sugar’s aide who pointed out that Kathryn’s designs weren’t original.
‘Have you designed anything?’ she questioned the entrepreneur, who conceded: ‘No.’
Linda even brought along one of the pairs from a competitive retailer, which looked almost the same as a pair from Kathryn’s own brand.
‘I would say it’s pretty identical,’ Linda commented.
Kathryn’s business, which is matching pyjama sets for the whole family (including dogs), has, however, already had an impressive start.
Having set up My Everyday Pyjamas only a year before applying for the show, Kathryn already shifted 80,000 sets on her own, after importing stock from China.
But it seems she’s not the only one to do so.
A very similar set of pyjamas is available for £22 on Asos, while Kathryn’s pair cost £39. Fast-fashion retailer Missguided also sell an almost identical pair for £22.
A spokesperson for Kathryn’s company told Metro.co.uk: ‘As a small business we pride ourselves on offering high quality, ethically-sourced, matching pyjama sets for customers at a competitive price.’
Kathryn will be competing against dessert-shop owner Harpreet Kaur for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment in tonight’s final.
