To mark its highly-anticipated return, a teaser trailer was dropped, and the bloodshed graphics made Netflix’s look tame.
The abundance of blood exploding in firework form, to the punches being thrown left and right, proved to be a little too much for viewers.
But if the show’s official Twitter post is anything to go by, it looks like the creators were pretty blasé about the whole situation.
The caption read: ‘Everyone’s raving that the Season 3 teaser is “deeply unhinged” and asking “what the f*ck did we just watch?”‘ along with a picture of antihero Billy (Karl) drinking from a mug.
Actor Seth even weighed in on the backlash, and simply responded: ‘I did.’
Filming for season three kicked off earlier this year and plenty of the cast have been sharing behind-the-scenes pictures to get fans excited.
The Boys’ second season provided some of the biggest TV moments of 2020 – and if the stars are to be believed, there’s plenty more to come.
Bloody sequences aside, viewers should expect even more chaos and carnage, as Supernatural star .
Meanwhile, Karl previously teased the third season of the dark comedy and with a behind the scenes snap featuring Jensen.
‘Celebrating the arrival of the most excellent @jensenackles aka Soldier Boy & the halfway point of shooting season 3 of @theboystv,’ Karl wrote, posing next to Jensen and Hughie Campbell star Jack Henry Quaid.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Boys are available to stream on Prime Video now, and season 3 will premiere on June 22.
