*Warning: This article contains spoilers from episode three of The Capture.*
Episode two of The Capture saw viewers’ jaws dropped as a live stream of BBC Newsnight interview with Isaac Turner (Paapa Essiedu) was faked.
If you thought that was elaborated hacking, then episode three would have come as a real shock, with the silent assassins manipulating the police’s communication system.
The end game was to throw investigators off the scent of the crime they really wanted to commit which, tissues at the ready, was the murder of fan favourite DS Patrick Flynn (Cavan Clerkin).
But is Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) any closer to cracking the case and getting justice for her friend’s killing?
Here’s everything we wanted to know after watching episode three.
Who hacked into the police system and the BBC?
The police were in pursuit of prime suspect Yang Wanglei (Rob Yang), who was being tracked by CCTV in a car to Heathrow.
When the car arrived at the bustling airport, officers were left scratching their heads when AI boss Yang didn’t exit the vehicle.
This being The Capture, it turns out the footage was manipulated and there was no Yang and no car.
While officers were busy chasing a non-existent Yang, assassins snuck into the hospital and shot Flynn.
But who is behind all of this?
Who Ki**ed Patrick Flynn?
In devastating scenes, shortly after he woke up from his first attack in episode one, Patrick was shot dead by two assassins.
The pair had worn hospital scrubs to avoid detection and fleed the crime scene in a van, that Isaac tried to follow before being stopped for speeding.
Realising he was going to be Ki**ed, Patrick captured footage of his murderers on his phone.
But while back in the van, one of the assassins wipes his mobile clean. Will there be any trace of them?
Will Rachel Carey, Isaac Turner and Khadija Khan bring down Correction ?
Newsnight journalist Khadija (Indira Varma) agrees to work with Rachel and Isaac and gather evidence on Correction.
It’s an interesting dynamic as so far Carey has been working alone: not even her closest friend Flynn was fully aware of the nature of Correction.
All three are now recording as many conversations with Correction insiders as possible, with Isaac successfully getting the home secretary to confess his knowledge of the operation on camera.
What will they do with all their findings and will any of them break and risk exposing Correction too early?
What does Gemma Garland have for Chloe Tan?
New officer DC Chloe Tan (Tessa Wong) look devastated when it dawned on the police they had been tricked.
Asking if anyone had witnessed Flynn’s murder, Tan is told by Garland to not talk about the killing ‘here or now.’
Fair enough, given all police equipment has been compromised.
So far, so normal, but the conversation takes an interesting turn when Garland reveals she ‘has something’ for Tan.
‘We’ll talk,’ she adds, looking Tan dead in the eyes.
Eh?
What happened to Carey’s footage of Shaun Emery (Callum Turner)?
After learning from her sister the family home has been burgled, Carey wastes no time in going to check it out.
She heads straight for the picture of herself as a child and her late mum, where she had previously hidden a chip proving Shaun’s innocence.
If you remember back to The Capture season one, Carey stashed away the footage which shows murder victim Hannah Roberts (Laura Haddock) on the bus after being ‘attacked’ by Shawn.
Does Carey have a backup or is it gone for good?
The Capture continues on Monday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
