ITV has been urged to bring back for a new series next year as the show was lauded by fans on its final night.
The former Channel 4 series this year, with viewers not entirely sure what to think at first.
In fact, at the beginning as ‘ with five minutes of sport’, but it seems over time it has made a better impression on the public.
Friday’s episode saw Wes Nelson crowned the overall winner of the competition as he clinched 45 points, with Chelcee landing in first place in the women’s contest with 42 points.
Phoenix Gulzar-Brown and Ryan Thomas were awarded second place, with Josh Herdman and Rebecca Sarker in third.
‘I’m absolutely buzzing,’ Wes said as he spoke from the podium.
He added that the show and getting back into exercising ‘has been amazing for my mental health.’
It’s clear fans of the show are feeling the same way, with one calling it ‘a wonderful week’ and adding they ‘loved every minute’.
‘The games was brilliant,’ one fan wrote on Twitter, urging ITV to ‘bring it back next year!!! Please!’
‘Really enjoyed watching this all week,’ another said. ‘Well done all.’
‘Absolutely loved watching @TheGamesTV this week!’ another agreed. ‘This is what sport is all about!’
Another described it as ‘lighthearted fun,’ adding it ‘brought back good memories of competing.’
The series has certainly been a rollercoaster, with some spectacular falls, bike crashes and more than one row about the results.
Formerly a Channel 4 favourite, The Games returned to our screens on ITV this year after a long break away, with Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff presenting.
Other celebrities who pushed themselves to the limit this year, but who didn’t claim the glory of the podium, include Olivia Attwood, Christine McGuinness and Kevin Clifton.
The Wanted star Max George, Coronation Street’s Colson Smith and ITV reporter Lucrezia Millarini finished the lineup.
The Games is available to watch on ITV Hub.
