The Games: Ryan Thomas fears fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh will go into labour during live show

is keeping his fingers crossed that his fiancée won’t go into labour during The Games live show, which commences tomorrow.

The 37-year-old actor and 11 other celebrities will be taking on a number of intense sports – . 

Towie star Lucy and Ryan are already parents to one-year-old son Roman and revealed in February that in ‘late spring.’

However, Ryan hopes his fiancée won’t be in labour any time soon, as he prepares for this week’s live show.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press he said: ‘I know that it’s imminent and that it’ll be happening any time soon, and I know it will be during the show.

‘But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that that’s not the case and we can get the job done.’

Just in case Lucy goes into labour during his stint on the series, Ryan later quipped: ‘And we’re not far from here to get to the hospital, so that’s good.’

Lucy, 30, first met Ryan in 2017 while competing on Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls together, and she previously revealed she ‘fell in love with him’ shortly after. They got engaged in 2019

The former Coronation Street star also detailed his physical transformation after weeks of intense training.

‘Everybody does look different now, we’ve been at it for a while now,’ he said.

‘Five days a week, you don’t train this intensely ever, so you definitely see some changes.’

Ryan also revealed that his brothers will be rooting for him every step of the way.

‘They love it,’ he enthused. ‘They would love to do something like this, this would be a dream job for them because they’re massively into health and fitness.

‘We’re very similar in that sense. They’re really hyped up for me doing this, and they know a lot of the boys here and they can’t wait to see everyone competing, there’s been a few jokes and banter.’

Freddie Flintoff and Holly Willoughby will be presenting The Games alongside Alex Scott who will also join as a pitch-side reporter,.

Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Brown, songwriter Chelcee Grimes and Harry Potter actor Josh Herdman are among the other celebs who’ve signed up for the challenge.

Elsewhere, viewers will see, newsreader Lucrezia Millarin and Emmerdale actor Rebecca Sarker compete to win the new competitive series.

Christine McGuinness, Olivia Attwood, Wes Nelson, Max George and Corrie star Colson Smith complete the line-up of the programme, which begins next week – airing over consecutive nights on the broadcaster. 

The Games airs Monday May 9 at 9pm on ITV.
