It’s happened. The crossover of the century no one saw coming, no one knew they needed but wow are we all delighted it’s here. and .

The longest-running cartoon in the history of US cartoons and easily the best sitcom of the decade have come together in beautiful harmony with The Simpsons featuring a subtle nod to the Northern Irish comedy.

During the latest episode, Bart The Cool Kid, fans spotted a potential nod to Derry Girls when Homer stages a rebellion and pulls up to a local ice cream parlour named Dairy Girls.

Naturally, it didn’t take long before fans asked The Simpsons team to clarify: ‘Is Dairy Girls Ice Cream supposed to be a reference to Dairy Queen, or Derry Girls, or both?’

Producer Matt Selman then confirmed: ‘Derry Girls.’

Obviously no one was more delighted than Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee who shared a snap of the moment, and tweeted: ‘I. Am. Dead.’
