The Split as the third and final season promises more drama.
Series three is following the divorce of family lawyers Hannah Stern and Nathan – played by and respectively – after both of them had affairs in the previous seasons.
There’s plenty to keep an eye on with Sherlock star Lara Pulver joining as leading child psychologist Kate.
Just like the first two seasons, filming for season three has predominantly taken place in London, with everything getting underway in June 2021.
There are a lot of famous landmarks popping up during the show, from The Shard to the Millennium Bridge.
Meanwhile, international law firm Olswang – which can be found in High Holborn, Central London – serves as a stand-in for the law firm where Hannah works.
The series is set in where the Noble Hale Defoe offices are based, and there’s a key reason for that.
‘A lawyer I spoke to early on introduced the idea that London is the divorce capital of the world,’ the show’s creator Abi Morgan previously explained.
‘One of the reasons for that had been instigated by a woman called Blanche Lucas, one of the first divorce lawyers who advocated for women not only to get alimony and a share of the house, but to get a lump sum of money, as an acknowledgement of how much they may have given in a relationship to supporting a man’s career.’
Morgan noted how Lucas’ actions sparked a rise in people seeking divorce across the UK.
‘She was known as ‘Lump Sum Lucas’ and was very famous in the Eighties,’ she added. ‘It triggered a number of people choosing to be divorced in the UK because it was so friendly to the spouse who had contributed to the marriage in ways other than income.’
The Split continues at 9pm on BBC One. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on iPlayer.
