The Weeknd ‘threatened to pull out of Coachella’ if he didn’t receive Kanye West’s $8,500,000 pay cheque

The  threatened to back out of his upcoming  gig, unless festival organisers paid him the same amount as  who was set to take in more than $8,000,000 (£6,119,160), reports claim.

The Jesus Walks hitmaker, 44, was scheduled to headline the music and arts event in California on April 17 and April 24.

‘Finally, on Wednesday — faced with the prospect of a second headline act pulling out of Coachella at the last minute — Anschutz’s company caved and agreed to pay The Weeknd the same money,’ a source told the publication.

As soon as the updated line-up was confirmed, Tollett said: ‘I’m so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd finishing out the Sunday night slot this year.

‘Coachella has a special relationship with Abel and I’m so thankful to have this upcoming performance with these iconic artists all on the same stage.’

It is unclear why the dad-of-four pulled the plug on his appearance, but a source claimed to  that he had not rehearsed or prepared for the gig.

Ye hasn’t addressed the claims publicly, however it was recently reported that following his bitter split from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, and Carly Rae Jepson are among the other names on the star-studded line-up.
